Forge take 2 from Compuware in shootouts.

On Friday the Pittsburgh Forge, the newest expansion team in the North
American Hockey League (NAHL), hosted Detroit’s Compuware Ambassadors at
the Island Sports Center on Neville Island. The Forge scored in the middle
of the 1st period with a goal from Andy Cote. Assisting Cote were Doug
Conley and Mike Handza to help put the Forge up 1-0. Shortly after, the
Compuware Ambassadors came back to tie the game with shot from forward Mike
Walsh. Assisting Walsh were Ryan Lessnau and Jason Paige. In the 2nd period
Pittsburgh forward Jim Thaman scored his first goal of the season to put the
Forge up 2-1. Assisting Thamann were Sean Berkstressor and Pat Levendusky.
Compuware came right back to tie the game 2-2 with a goal by forward Frank
Ferdero. Defenseman Jeremy Bronson assisted.
The score remained that way the rest of the way including the overtime
period and the teams headed to a shootout. The Forge goaltender Tim Heneroty
stopped three of the five shots against him. Compuware’s goaltender Chris
Davidson deflected two of the five shots that Pittsburgh put against him.
The Forge won in overtime 3-2, bringing there record to 12-3-1. The Forge
had a total of four goals but received a plus one for the game. Scoring for
the Forge where Josh Coyle and with the game winner Pat Levendusky. Forward
Matt Rutkowski scored Compuware’s overtime goal.
The Forge and the Compuware Ambassadors hooked up again before a standing
room only crowd on Saturday night. The Forge came out strong and Andrew Cote
scored a power play goal assisted by Kenny Trombetta and Mike Handza.
Compuware tied the game with an unassisted goal from Mike Falk. Pittsburgh
would get the next 2 as Andy Brandt took a pass from Andy Cote and Mike
Handza to make it 2-1 Pittsburgh. Soon after Pittsburgh went on a power play
allowing Mike Handza the third goal of the night. Forge defenseman Dylan
Reese assisted on Handza’s goal. Compuware came back in the 2nd period as
right wing Casey Davis scored on Forge goaltender Tim Heneroty. In the third
period Compuware tied the score once again with a goal from Mike Falk.
Assisting Falk were Mike Walsh and Matt Rutkowski. Soon after, Falk scored
his second goal of the game to give the Ambassadors their first lead 4-3.
With time counting down Mike Handza scored his second goal to tie the game
at 4-4. Assisting Handza was Andy Cote giving him his third point of the

shootout. Andy Cote and Pat Levendusky netted goals for the Forge in the
shootout and once again goalie Tim Heneroty slammed the door on Compuware as
the Forge came away with a 5-4 win giving them a 13-3-2 record.
The next Pittsburgh Forge home game will take place November 23rd and 24th
against the USA Under-17 team at 7:30pm. All home games are played at the
Island Sports Center on Neville Island.
— Congratulations go out to Tim Heneroty this weekend for both his
performance and also because it was announced this week that he has been
named Goaltender of the Month for the months of September and October of
this season by the North American Hockey League.
