History

The Colorado Avalanche drafted the Czech born David Svagrovsky in the 4th round, #131 overall in the 2003 entry draft.

He spent 2 years playing for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL, and 1 year playing for the Colorado Eagles of the CHL.

2002-03: Svagrovsky came into the WHL and was met with immediate success. He finished his rookie year with 47 points (17 goals, 25 assists) which ranked 7th in the WHL in terms of rookie scoring. His +/- of 17 was 5th best for rookies, and his 4 game winning goals were 4th most for a rookie. Svagrovsky ‘s strong play helped lead Seattle to their first US Division title. His success continued in the playoffs. In 15 games he recorded 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists), which 6th most for a rookie.

2003-04: Unfortunately for Svagrovsky, he could not carry over the success from his rookie year to his sophomore season. He all but disappeared from the stat sheets, playing in 52 games, and recording 17 points (6 goals, 11 assists). Seattle was counting on a big season from Svagrovsky, but he let the team down and Seattle failed to make the playoffs.

2004-05: After being drafted in the 4th round by the Avalanche, Svagrovsky spent the season playing in the CHL for the Colorado Eagles. Svagrovsky failed to recover from his struggles the year before. He played 35 games and only compiled 1 goal and 3 assists. Colorado failed to make the playoffs.
