History

Eddie Caron was spectacular as a 16 year old freshman at Phillips-Exeter Academy in New Hampshire, then missed half of his third season with mono. He is typical of the Kevin Lowe era of Oilers drafting, a very young player with tremendous raw skills and upside.

After not playing the 2002-03 due to an ineligibility case between Yale and New Hampshire transfer, Caron was back playing with New Hampshire in 2003-04.

Enjoyed a fast start offensively in Greenville in 2004-05 but then broke his leg knocking him out of action for nearly two months.

Talent Analysis

Caron is a playmaker, a solid passer with good vision. His foot speed is below average, his skills are good but unpolished. Caron is raw.

Future

In a surprise move Caron informed the Oilers that he is taking at least the 2005-06 season off from actively playing hockey in order to complete his schooling. Clearly this will probably end his pursuit of a professional hockey career.
