History

2007-08: Assigned to Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.  Participated in the 2008 ECHL All-Star game, replacing Paul Bissonette.  His shot was clocked at 94.5 mph, third highest among all competitors in the skills competition.  After going undrafted, D’Aversa signed his first professional contract with the Penguins in May of 2007 and split time between the ECHL and AHL.

Talent Analysis

D’Aversa is an offensively minded defenseman with good speed and passing skills. He has an above average outlet pass to go along with his highly accurate off-hand pass. The 6’2 blueliner also uses his soft hands to effectively settle down hard passes.  His game is not without flaws though. He often finds himself out of position and needs to improve his abilities to take and receive passes off the rush.
