History

Ryan began his career playing for Niagra University before leaving nine games into the 2002-03 season to join Guelph of the OHL. Ryan was named team captain and team MVP during the 2003-04 season where he finished fourth in the league in goal scoring. Was a teammate of current King Dustin Brown and fellow Kings’ prospect Daniel Taylor.

2004-05: His 24 points in 77 games is a respectable total for a role player on a highly talented team. He might take on a larger scoring role with the team next season.

2005-06: Ryan spent most of the season with Manchester, scoring 24 points in 68 games for the Monarchs. However, Ryan did receive a call-up to Los Angeles, much earlier than anyone would have expected. He received a 12 games stint very early in the season, and recorded his first NHL point with an assist. Re-assigned to Manchester, Ryan would spend the rest of the season om their third line.

2006-07: Missing some time due to injury, Ryan would spend his entire season with the Manchester Monarchs, but still no closer to Los Angeles.  He tallied 24 points in 56 games and eight points in 16 playoff games.

Talent Analysis
Ryan is speedy centerman with a non-stop motor. He uses his great skating and stick-handling ability to avoid the opposition and get to open areas on the ice. Ryan is fearless with the puck and will often head straight for the net and challenge the defensemen despite being only 6'0", 185 lbs. His speed and maneuverability allow him to force the goaltender to move laterally, opening up good scoring opportunities.
Future
Ryan was signed to a three year contract with the Los Angeles Kings after an excellent showing at the prospect camp. Ryan earned a brief call-up to Los Angeles and remains a speedy option should injuries occur. However, it is not likely thay Ryan will emerge as anything more than a role player on an energy line and will need to fight for another call-up to Los Angeles.
