History

Zdenek Bahensky played within the system of the HC Chemopetrol Litvinov team through the 2003-04 season. He played his way through all the age categories until the junior level, but didn’t manage to make his senior Extraleague debut. After being selected by the New York Rangers in the third round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Bahensky came to North America to play junior hockey. For two very offensively productive  seasons (2004-05 and 2005-06) Bahensky was an excellent winger for the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades.

After signing a one-year AHL deal with the Hartford Wolf Pack prior to the start of the 2006-07 season, Bahensky shuttled back and forth between the ECHL Charlotte Checkers and Hartford. After it became apparent that he was not bound for an NHL career any time in the near future, Bahensky returned to the Czech Republic and is playing in the Czech Elite League for his second season.

Talent Analysis

Bahensky's strongest asset is his smooth skating and good quickness. He shows strong bursts of speed along with an above-average agility. He can handle the physical rigors of the game quite well, playing with a solid edge and going regularly into traffic areas.

Future
Bahensky will most likely not return to North America to play hockey.
